The Orbea Gain is simply remarkable. An electric-assisted bike that handles and looks just like a conventional road bike. Once past 25km/h, or with the motor switched off, it reverts to traditional pedal-only mode, and rides beautifully. With the pedal assistance on it enhances your efforts and allows you to ride further, longer, quicker and easier. All with a big grin on your face. Because the Gain is all about having fun on a bike. Plain and simple. Average achievable battery distance up to approx 120km.
The Gain helps you to expand your horizons, challenge tougher terrain, improve your fitness, or ride with friends of all abilities. But it doesn’t do it for you…you are still pedaling. It simply helps you “gain” enough assistance to enhance your ride and add to the fun factor of any ride!
As Orbea put it “Gain was designed to enhance your ride, not dominate it. The Enough Power and Enough Energy concepts result in an exceptionally lightweight, sportive and rideable bike – a machine that heeds the call of the open road. Gain embraces your sweat and hard work and works in unison with your efforts to tick off the kilometres. The system interfaces are modern, integrated and sleek. There are no bulky components to reduce the riding experience; distractions have been minimized. So it’s just you, Gain and the hours ahead.”
We were amazed when we first saw the Orbea Gain. It’s a great looking road bike, and once over the initial “is it an e-bike?”, we have all enjoyed zipping around on our local test route with the constant feeling of the wind at your back. Even when it’s a head wind. Especially when it’s uphill.
